There there was a large fishing community on Lake Keenjhar. The majority of these individuals were boatmen. In this lake, women fished fish to sell. A lovely baby girl was born to a fisherwoman once. Consequently, the gorgeous daughter born in a fisherman’s home attracted the attention of all the residents of the fishermen’s settlement. After noticing the girl’s dazzling and lovely face, the town chief chose to give her the name Noori. She become more beautiful with age. When she was younger. She suffered from leprosy, a skin condition. Because of this, she hid her face from everyone. An elderly guy once traveled through this village while in need of food. Noori let him in and informed her mother as soon as she spotted him. He told Noori’s mother what was going on. Noori was ordered to arrive and stay at Noori’s place. Her father also showed him respect and allowed him to stay in the house. Not long later, she prepared and served him dinner. Noori was still hidden beneath a heavy layer of clothes. The old man likewise a devout follower of Allah. After he finished his dinner, he asked Noori why her hands, feet, and face covered. Why was she behaving like this?
As well as trying to avoid it, Noori said with great sadness, “oh Uncle, I have leprosy. I hide my face, hands, and feet from everyone.” I don’t know when I will die.” “Daughter, who says you have leprosy !”
He close his eyes and read something. As this act complete, he open his eyes and breathed on Noori’s flesh. His breath was so strong that it completely healed the leprosy spots on Noori’s face, hands, and feet, as well as the rest of his body. After then, she not only turned into the light of the past but also into a representation of her beauty.
In those days, the rule of Sama rulers was from 1353 to 1521 and during this period Jan Inner was the king of Sindh. Meanwhile, when Sindh was developing, Alauddin Khilji, who was the ruler of India, attacked Sindh and imprisoned John Inner and his entire family. When Jan Unar died in prison, Jan Unar’s son Jam Tamachi was young. Jam Tamachi was made king of Sindh by the order of Alauddin Khilji.
Jam Unar was a Sama dynasty lord who belonged to a Sama caste. Oversaw Sindh at this period. The Indian ruler Allauddin Khilji raided Sindh, took control of Bhakkhar fort, abducted Jam Unar and his whole family, and brought them all to Delhi. while Jam Uner was incarcerated. When Jam Uner passed in prison. Allauddin Khilji sent for Prince Jam Khairuddin, son of Jam Unar, also called Jam Tamachi, and instructed him to take over as ruler and head of the administration of Sindh. After returning to Bhakkhar, Jam Tamachi established his grip over Sindh. He was in a boat on Lake Keenjhar one day while visiting Thatta, he accidently saw a Noori. When he saw her gorgeous face, he grew enraged and returned to Bhakkhar the same day. When he arrived to his palace and went down on the bed, Noori’s lovely eyes and captivating face stole his serenity and tranquillity. Jam Tamachi eventually agreed to marry Noori. Her interlocutor and close acquaintances tried hard to persuade him not to marry Noori. However, caste and Noori’s poor standards have no place in front of her beauty. Jam Tamachi invited Noori’s relatives to his castle and announced about his proposal. Noori’s relatives agreed quickly.
The wedding date was set, and on the appointed day, Noori arrived to the palace as the queen of Jam Tamachi. After the marriage, she discovered that the king was already married and had seven women in the palace. Jam Tamachi ordered all wives to obey and submit, making Noori feel obligated.
However, following that, all of the wives developed a jealousy of Noori and began plotting to injure and remove her from the king’s view. Noori had a simple heart, she treated her seven sisters with respect and dignity but on the contrary, the seven wives, along with their servants, conspired against Noori in an attempt to discredit the king. Despite this, Jam Tamachi had a great desire for her in his heart.
One day, the seven women informed Jam Tamachi that Noori’s brother visits the palace every three days, and she stuffs the wooden box full of cash and jewelry. This startled the monarch, who momentarily started to doubt the new queen. After looking into the claim for herself, he discovered that Noori used to eat fish and its bones before being married, but she disliked the cuisine at the palace. She receives fish and bones from her brother in a wooden box, which she eats before returning it. The king was greatly disturbed by the lying of his wives, and the love of Noori grew in his heart more than ever. But Noori was so shocked that she survived for a short time after the incident.
After her death, Jam Tamachi buried her in the middle of the lake and built a mausoleum on the surface, which is a masterpiece of architectural art. The reason why the tomb next to Noori is called Noori Jam Tamachi is because Jam Tamachi is buried there as well. Most of the tourists who come from far flung parts of Pakistan to enjoy this lake also visit the shrine of Noori Jam Tamachi by boat.
